I’ve been talking a lot about the El Niño event that is developing. This month, I want to show you what the longer range computer models are forecasting for the next three months. Typically, El Niño will bring better chances for rain and can also provide for cooler than average temperatures where those frequent rains set up. So, let’s see if the models concur…
NMME Model Temperature Forecast May - July
In general, both models are calling for average to above average precipitation, for the next three months. Temperatures are a little more split, but calling for average to above average temperatures. I will say this…the models really don’t handle the temperature forecast very well. By that, I mean they are usually too warm. So, if we can capitalize on some decent rainfall in the next few months, it will likely act to keep temperatures average to below average. This would especially be true for East/Southeast Texas where rain has been more plentiful, than areas farther west. This is something to watch, and I’ll obviously be updating you on next month.
