Buyers, both registered and commercial, expressed a strong demand for Champion Ranch bred Brangus. The Centerville, Texas operation hosted their Gathering III Sale on February 9th and saw buyers pay an average of $2,101 for the 44 registered lots and $993 for the 197 head of commercial females.
Topping the sale was CR Ms New Success 972K, a XS Newsmaker 36G3 daughter, and her calf by WB Target 804D32 at $4,100. Steiner Ranch, Bastrop, Texas purchased the pair and was one of the volume buyers at the sale.
Mound Creek Ranch, Leona, Texas bid $3,800 for XS Ms Target 604H and her calf by CR Mr Lonesome. The female was a daughter of the popular new generation sire, WB Target 804D32.
Also generating lots of interest and bids was CR Rock Block 10K, a CCC Champ 320G daughter who also had a calf at side by Target. Mississippi breeder, Coldwater Cattle Co., make the final bid of $3,600.
Volume buyers in the registered portion included Dry Creek Ranch, Bulverde, Texas and Steiner Ranch. Barney Bray, Paris, Texas and Fred Dennington, Albany, Texas were the volume buyers in the commercial sale. Overall the sale drew 29 buyers from four states.
The sale was managed by Bruns Sales Company and was auctioneered by Doak Lambert.
