Broseco Ranch honored as Red Angus 2006 Commercial Producer of the Year

Broseco Ranch of Mt. Pleasant, Texas has been honored by the Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) as its 2006 Commercial Producer of the Year.

Broseco is an acronym for ‘Brown Security Com-pany’ and was purchased in 1961 by Donaldson Brown.  The current owners of the Ranch are Philip and Deborah English and Walter and Grabrielle Buck, who are relatives of Donaldson Brown.

Dr. Tom Woodward is the manager of Broseco Ranch, a commercial cow/calf operation with a registered Red Angus seed stock herd, and is annually recognized by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Associa-tion (NCBA) as one of the largest 25 commercial producers in the U.S. The commercial cattle are run in a three breed rotation using Red Angus, SimAngus, and Hotlander bulls to produce a highly efficient, heat tolerant herd.

Broseco Ranch is one of the founding members of Ranchers Renaissance - a vertically integrated marketing alliance. Retained ownership through all phases of production has provided carcass data on commercial cattle that allows for complete herd evaluation.

Over the past 45 years, the size of the ranch and herd has fluctuated, but production of quality beef production has remained the number one goal.  Broseco holds an annual commercial replacement female sale on the ranch each April.  The ranch has recently started a seedstock herd of Red Angus and plans to expand that enterprise of the ranch.

The RAAA is pleased to have an operation as successful as Broseco Ranch recognize the merits of the Red Angus breed and looks forward to the continued success at Broseco.
