Texas beef, brush virtual seminar set for Oct. 27

The Far West Texas Beef Cattle and Brush Update will be held as a virtual seminar on Oct. 27 from 8:30-11 a.m.

There is no cost to attend the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service event but registration is required athttps://tx.ag/BeefBrushVirtualSeminar. The seminar will be held over the Zoom meeting platform.

“West Texas AgriLife Extension agents came together to create a seminar that would provide beef cattle producers with the latest information related to legislative changes and management recommendations that could impact them,” said Zach Schaefer, AgriLife Extension agent, Culberson County. “We also enlisted an expert to cover toxic brush and what producers need to be aware of when it comes to these plants.”

There is no cost to attend the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service event but registration is required at httpsThe event will feature Megan Clayton, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension range specialist, Corpus Christi, who will provide an overview on toxic rangeland plants and control strategies.

“We have also invited two representatives from the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association,” Schaefer said. “They will offer legislative information regarding beef cattle related policy.”

The TSCRA speakers are Kaleb McLaurin, executive director of government and public affairs, and Scott Williamson, executive director of law enforcement, brand and inspection services.

The seminar is a collaborative effort of the AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agents for Culbertson, Brewster, Jeff Davis, Pecos, Presidio, Ward, Ector and Midland counties.
