Simbrah Breeders Hold Long Range Planning Meeting
    Simbrah breeders met on August 4th to continue planning for the future and highlights of the meeting included:
    •Make contacts to have National Simbrah Show in San Antonio
    •Find commercial herds that are willing to use Simbrah bulls and gather carcass information
    •Develop new name and leadership team for Simbrah
    •Develop an email list for Simbrah
    •Work to try to have Simbrah Females in Commercial Heifer Sales
    •Market the American Junior Simbrah Roundup as the Simbrah National Junior Show

Henly Family Takes Top Simbrah  Honors At AJSA  Classic
    Casey and Callie Henly, San Augustine, Texas travelled to the American Junior Simmental Classic in Iowa for the annual summer show. Casey won grand champion honors with Hagan’s Callie 51W. This female was sired by Johnnie Walker and is out of Hagan’s 50 cow.  Callie won reserve honors with Smith Hagan Fraulein 12W, a Smith Nu Wave II sired female out of the Smith and Hagan donor, Irreplacable.

Simbrah Breeders Encouraged To Consign To All Breed Bull and Commercial
Heifer Sales
    One of the items discussed at the Simbrah Long Range Planning Meeting was the need to gain added exposure for the breed through all breed events. Joe Rodriguez assembled the information on the following sales:
San Antonio All Breed Bull Sale and All Breed Heifer Sale
    Entry forms for nominations are available from October 1st to October 15th  for sale at the San Antonio Livestock Show in February. Evaluation committee will view all possible candidates prior to acceptance into the sale.  Previous consignors have first choice to participate in sale.  Contact Jim Banner or Michael Sturgess 210/524-9697 for all the specifics and nomination forms.
Fort Worth Commercial Female Sale
    Entry forms for nominations will be available mid September. Contact Charles Rollins 817/441-9388 to be placed on mailing list.  Nomination forms are due December 1, 2010 however, if you want to be considered as a consignor, you must advise him of your intent to participate at the sale and inform him on the number of heifers that will be entered.  Heifers will be screened for the sale around mid October.
Houston Livestock Show All Breed Bull Sale and Commercial Sale

Foreign Contacts Wanted
    Simbrah breeders who have names and addresses of foreign Simbrah breeders or enthusiasts are encouraged to submit those to Paulette Cochen-our at the American Simmental Association for inclusion into the Simbrah data base. You may send the information to her at  ASA, 1 Simmental Way, Bozeman, Montana 58715, or call her at 406/556-9636 or email her at pcochenour @simmgene.com. Also if you want these names and address to receive the Simbrah World, send them to marthag@southernlive stock.com

Test Bulls
    RX Simbrah Ranch, Ballinger, Texas and Filegonia Cattle Company, Troy, Texas recently fed a pen of Simbrah bulls at the San Angelo Feedyard, San Angelo, Texas. The bulls were fed along Beef Improvement Federation (BIF) guidelines with a 14 day warm up period and then a 104 day test.
    The Filegonia bulls posted the following averages: IMF % 2.95; Scrotal Circumference: 37.67; Scrotal Circumference Ratio: 101.20; ADG Ratio: 109.49; REA/Cwt Ratio: 103.13; WPDA Ratio: 89.14; Marbling Ratio: 105.62;  and SAF Ratio: 102.74.
    The RX bulls posted the following averages: IMF % 2.71; Scrotal Circumfer-ence 37; Scrotal Circumfer-ence Ratio: 99.41; ADG Ratio: 103.84; REA/Cwt Ratio: 98.86; WPDA Ratio: 105.56; Marbling Ratio: 96.95; and SAF Ratio: 101.71.
