COLLEGE STATION – Nutritional Monitoring of Range Animals will be the title of a Oct. 4 natural resources webinar conducted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service ecosystem science and management unit.

The webinar will be from noon to 1 p.m. and is part of the Texas Range Webinar Series scheduled the first Thursday of each month, said Pete Flores, AgriLife Extension webinar coordinator in Corpus Christi.

Dr. Doug Tolleson, rangeland scientist at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Station at Sonora, will lead the discussion.

“We will discuss current and emerging methodologies to monitor the nutritional status of free-ranging livestock and wildlife,” Tolleson said. “From as simple as kicking a cowpie, all the way to interpreting infrared satellite imagery, there are ways to learn what animals are eating and what nutrients they may be lacking.”

There will be no Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units offered this month, Flores said, so there is no fee.

This webinar and others in the series can be accessed at https://naturalresourcewebinars.tamu.edu/.  For more information on the webinars, contact Flores at Pete.Flores@ag.tamu.edu.
