ARDMORE, Okla. — The Noble Research Institute will host a three-part pond management seminar series from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, May 23 through June 6, at the Noble Research Insititue Pavilion.

The seminars will build on each other to provide a comprehensive understanding of sport fish management principles in ponds. The first seminar (May 23) will focus on issues an impoundment has before fish are stocked as well as different stocking strategies.

Seminar Two (May 30) will focus on managing an impoundment after fish are stocked, starting with fishery conditions and landowner goals. Participants will learn about fish sampling techniques, management of fish species, supplemental stocking and information on feeding fish. Aquatic vegetation management will also be discussed to help landowners determine which plants are beneficial for a pond and which are undesirable.

Seminar Three (June 6) will conclude the series with a tour of one of the Noble Research Institute's recreational ponds. While participants tour the pond, fishery consultants will discuss and demonstrate the management principles covered in the previous sessions.

"Ponds can provide endless hours of recreation as well as increased value to a property," said Will Moseley, wildlife and fisheries consultant. "But like any resource, it must be actively managed. Noble's here to help provide the best possible information so that landowners can make informed decisions."

This seminar series is offered at no charge, but preregistration is required for each session. For more information or to preregister, please visit www.noble.org/eventswww.noble.org/events or call 580-223-5810.
