Lee Adair Passes Away

Oscar "Lee" Adair, age 86, passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 10, 2010 surrounded by loved ones.

He was born June 25, 1924 in a farmhouse outside Lone Oak, Texas to Oscar B. and Jewel Adair. Lee graduated high school in 1942 from East Texas State Teachers College Training School in Commerce, Texas, where he played football. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served his country proudly in WWII.

After returning home he received his B.S. degree from East Texas State Teachers College in 1948, where he also was a member of the football team. While in college, he met the love of his life, Nancy Jeanette Davis and they were married May 24, 1946. After college they moved to Premont, Texas where Lee was a football coach and teacher. After a few years with various oilfield service companies, Lee ventured out on his own to open his own oilfield service company, Adair Supply and Rentals Inc., which flourished for over 40 years until his retirement in 2002. Lee bought a ranch in Dike, Texas and began raising Beefmaster Cattle. He became very active in Beefmaster Breeders Universal. Lee served on the Advertising and Public Relations Committee, the Nominating Committee, the Junior Beefmasters Committee and the Executive Search Committee. He was a director from 1986-1989. He received the coveted Beefmaster Breeder of the Year award in 1992. He was given the Junior Beefmaster Breeders Helping Hand award in 1993. The Lone Star Beefmaster Breeders Association awarded him member of the year in 1995.

Lee loved his cattle and especially loved all the friends he made across the United States while marketing his cattle. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 59 years, Nancy, his daughter, Nancy Clinton, grandson Reagan Adair, brother George Adair and sister Wilma Delafield.

He is survived by two sons: Robin Adair (wife Ledell), Kevin Adair (wife Debbie) all of Corpus Christi, TX.; daughter: Jajan Adair Davis (husband Chris) of Dike, Texas; eight grandchildren, Robin, Robert and Ryan Adair, Blair and Jordan Adair all of Corpus Christi, Texas, Lee, Christopher and Jenna Davis of Dike, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Seaside Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
