The Fall Brush Management workshop will take place Sept. 30 from 9 a.m.-noon in Seguin; on-site registration starts at 8:30 a.m.

The event will be at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Guadalupe County at 210 E. Live Oak. The cost is $10, and an RSVP is required to the office by Sept. 28 at 830-303-3889.

“This will be a great workshop where landowners can learn about managing various brush species on their property,” said Jeff Hanselka, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent, Guadalupe County.

Three Texas Department of Agriculturecontinuing education units are available for commercial, non-commercial and private pesticide applicators. The workshop offers two general and one integrated pest management units.

Brush workshop discussion, demonstration

The featured speaker is Bob Lyons, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension range specialist, Uvalde. Lyons will cover the use of herbicide equipment on ranges and pastures.

A Brush Busters demonstration will showcase integrated brush control utilizing Brush Busters protocols, equipment and cut-stump treatments. Lyons will also cover how to manage and control mesquite, huisache, prickly pear and other Texas range plants.

Brush Busters is a cooperative program of the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and AgriLife Extension to expedite the adoption of tactical brush management systems technology. Brush Busters methods are easily understood, even by those with little or no previous experience in brush control.
