The Junior Market Steer Show selected Charlois Breed Champions February 17, 2010 during the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
Taylor Shackelford of Prosper FFA from Prosper, Texas captured the Grand Champion and Breed Champion Award with his 1336 pound steer, “Doc.” In his free time, he likes to judge livestock and practice showing his cattle.
Reserve Grand Cham-pion and Reserve Breed Champion honors belong to Kacy Blane from Lub-bock, Texas and her 1345-pound steer, “Shadow.” The Lubbock-Roosevelt FFA Chapter member en-joys playing basketball and hanging out with her friends. One day she would like to attend Texas A&M and become a professor of agriculture.
S.A.L.E. has a rich tradition and history of stewardship to the community, agriculture industry and youth of Texas. With a clear vision of the future, a successful past and continual dedication from over 5,000 volunteers, S.A.L.E. will continue to provide wholesome family entertainment and be a pillar of strength and support to the youth of Texas. This year the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has committed $8.1 million to education. The amount represents scholarships, grants, endowments, junior livestock auctions, Calf Scramble program, and show premiums paid to youth in the state of Texas. This brings the total a-mount that the organization has committed since the inception of the Scholarship Fund in 1984 to over $96 million.
