Buzzard Hollow Ranch Designer’s Classic 2010 sees strong demand

The 16th Annual BHR’s Designer’s Classic was held on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Buzzard Hollow Ranch in Granbury, Texas. The sale included 134 lots of cattle with guest consignors, Dutton Sim-mentals, Flying H Ranch, Foster Mill Simmentals, Hubnik Farms, Hudson Pines, Jensen Simmentals, Phillips Farm, Professional Livestock, Ratcliff Ranches, Snell Sim-mentals, Woonallee Simmen-tals and Casa Branca.  The sale also included the herd reduction of Agro Zurita of Brazil and the dispersal of the Fleck Influenced Purebreds of Jim and Gail Ligon and Tennessee Tech University.  A large crowd of Simmental and Simbrah breeders kept the bidding active with excellent demand for these genetics.  The Fleck influenced Pure-breds really impressed all in attendance.
    Cattle, Semen and Em-bryos sold to Alabama, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missis-sippi, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, North Dakota, Colorado, Nebraska, Michi-gan, Texas, Ohio, Sonora and Tabasco, Mexico, Canada, Australia and Nicaragua.

High Selling Lots
    Special Lot, a black Purebred first calf heifer with a 3/4 black Purebred bull calf at side, sold for $1,400 to Dr. Gary Crabtree of Squaw Valley Veterinary Services of Glen Rose, Texas.  All proceeds will be donated to the ASA Foundation in Peter Courtney’s name by consignors Hudson Pines and BHR.
    The high selling flush lot went to Vaughn Gibbons of Ontario, Canada.  He selected Lot 2B, BHR Ashante SA L137E, for $5,200. 
    Larry Eurig of Crimson Tide Fleckvieh in Ontario, Canada, purchased the high selling bred Fleckvieh Heifer, BHR Ursa Major SA U312E, a Dustin daughter out of Keona, for $4,200. 
    Little Creek Farm, Dr. Mikell and Mary Cheek Davis of Starkville, Mississippi, purchased the high selling open Fleckvieh heifer, Lot 29, a Polled HP King daughter out of Hacks Fraulein’s Clone, for $3,700. 
    The high selling 3-in-1 was purchased by James Faubus of Godley, Texas.  Lot 52 & 52A was consigned by Agro Zurita of Brazil and sold for $3,900. 
    Lot 60 & 60A, consigned by Agro Zurita, was the high selling Fleckvieh pair that sold to Luis Salinas of Tabasco, Mexico for $3,200 and the high selling bred Fleck Cow, Lot 68, sold to Fabian Lopez of Lufkin, Texas, for $2,400.  She was consigned by Agro Zurita of Brazil.
     The high selling Simbrah Lot, a bred Full House daughter out of BHR M347.  She was purchased by Mike and Kristol Stenstrom of Shawnee, Kansas for $4,100.
    The highlights of the Ligon Simmentals and TTU cattle came in Lot 81 & 81A, consigned by TTU, a Sunny Valley Sargent bull calf that was split and sold to Owen Brothers of Bois D’Arc, Missouri and Griswold Cattle Company of Stillwater, Oklahoma for $4,500.  His dam sold to Bouchard Livestock of Calgary, Alberta, Canada for $2,300.
    The bred Purebred heifers were highlighted by Lot 119 consigned by Ligon Simmentals that sold for $2,200 to Dennis Breinig of Breinig Simmentals of Arapahoe, Nebraska.  Lot 127, an open Purebred consigned by Ligon Simmentals was the high selling open at $1,900 to Bouchard Livestock of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. 
    Professional Livestock of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, consigned the High Selling Embryo Lot purchased by Little Creek Farm of Starkville, Mississippi for $2,000.  The embryos were out of Prostock Hugo and Diamond T Dorthy.
    Semen Sales were highlighted by Lot 136 consigned Phillips Farm.  The 5 units of sexed female semen on RPF Pol Right Direction sold to Vaughn Gibbons of Ontario, Canada, for $575 per straw and the second set of 5 units sold to Bar 5 of Ontario, Canada for $450 per straw.  The 10 units of conventional semen sold to Bouchard Livestock of Calgary, Alberta, Canada for $200 per straw.
    Volume buyers were Ricardo Alcala of Sonora Mexico and James Faubus of Godley, Texas.  A special thanks to Jim & Gail Ligon, Tennessee Tech University, Agro Zurita and all the consignors for offering such an outstanding set of cattle.
