AgriLife Extension sets Multi-County Wildlife Field Day April 5 in Doss

DOSS – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a Multi-County Wildlife Field Day April 5 at the Doss Community Center, 14174 Rural Road 783 N. in Doss.

Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. with the program to follow from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Organizers said the program will offer the latest wildlife management information in several areas of interest to land managers across the Edwards Plateau Hill Country. 

Topics and speakers will include:

– Using Drones for Wildlife Surveys, Cody Trahern, Sight Glass Flights president, Granbury. 

– Acquiring Managed Land Deer Program Permits, Joyce Moore, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department technical guidance biologist, Harper. 

– Whitetail Deer Necropsy – Know What You Are Managing, Dr. Bob Ditmar, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department wildlife veterinarian, Kerrville.

– Identifying Native Plants for Wildlife, Steve Nelle, U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service retired conservationist/wildlife biologist, San Angelo.

– Deer Nutritional Needs for Low and High Fenced Properties, Lyssy and Eckel Feeds representative, Llano.

Three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be offered.    

Individual registration is $25. A catered lunch is included in the fee. RSVP by March 29 to the AgriLife Extension office in any of the participating counties.
